The Academy Award nominations were announced this morning and SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is up for all the major slots. It's up for best picture, best director, and all the lead actors (Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Bobby DiNiro, Jacki Weaver) were nominated for best actor/actress and best supporting actor/actress. Thanks for seeing it with us! (We are showing it in the big theater for those of you wanting to know.)

Naomi Watts was nominated for an Oscar this morning for her performance in THE IMPOSSIBLE. BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, a big hit at Ragtag is up for Best Picture. Quvenzhané Wallis, the delightful little girl who brought us to tears in the film was nominated for Best Actress. Helen Hunt took a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for THE SESSIONS. SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN which played at T/F 2012 and at Ragtag is up for Best Documentary Feature. Surprisingly, MOONRISE KINGDOM was only nominated for Best Original Screenplay, and HITCHCOCK for hair and makeup.

Come to Ragtag to root for your favorites on Oscar night! We will be showing the Academy Awards show live on Sunday, Feb. 24 in our big theater, courtesy of CenturyLink Prism with support from the Columbia Business Times. It's free, and we're reviving the Corky awards (named for Corky St. Clair of Waiting for Guffman fame--the first film shown at Ragtag), so you can vote for your favorite Ragtag film from the year along with wacky categories only found in the Corkys.
