If you're a Mid-Missouri filmmaker, we want to watch your short film. We’ll pick our favorites and show them on Monday, April 16, at 8:30pm.
We're doing this for two reasons: One, we want to see what everyone's been working on. The local film scene is more vibrant than people know. And, two, we believe in the big-screen experience and feel that it's important that auteurs know what their films look like on screen. That’s why we’re opening up our big theater to local filmmakers — students, professionals, or weekend zombie warriors — for one night. And without a submission fee!
You have to live in Mid-Missouri. You should plan on attending if you can.
We’re looking for films no longer than 10 minutes. Though, if you have a 20-minute movie that you think is awesome, send it in and we’ll take a look at it. And if you’d like to submit a clip from your feature or work-in-progress, that’s fine too. (Please don't think of the 10-minute runtime as a goal for your filmmaking process. Your film should be as long or short as it needs to be to tell your story. We love three-minute movies!)
You can submit multiple films.
Your film should be appropriate for a general audience ... an R rating is fine.
Accepted filmmakers are guaranteed four tickets to the April 16 screening, which is free and open to the public.
There will be a short Q&A with filmmakers.
How to get involved:
Get your film to us by Friday, March 16, at 6pm.
Drop your short off at the Ragtag box office between 12 noon and the last movie, M–F (see our film schedule for weekend hours). Please don't submit it during True/False — it will get lost. Bring it on a disk or jump drive. (A jump drive is best — we’ll give it back.)
Please include the following, attached externally to the drive or disk (use a piece of string if you have to):
We hope to get acceptance emails out early-April.
