Far from the Madding Crowd opens Friday, May 22

farfromthemaddingcrowdWe're opening Far from the Madding Crowd a week earlier than we expected! Come see it with us starting Friday, May 22.

Based on the classic novel by Thomas Hardy, it's the story of the independent and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Cary Mulligan, An Education) who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak, (Matthias Schoenaerts, Rust and Bone) a sheep farmer; Frank Troy, a reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood, a prosperous and mature bachelor. Thomas Hardy's timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love -- as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.

"Vinterberg's classical, pastoral aesthetic recalls the heyday of the Merchant Ivory films, without the corny sentimentality of their lesser imitators."--Lindsey Bahr, Associated Press
