WELCOME TO THE PAVEMENTS UNIVERSE

Celebrating the release of Alex Ross Perry's kaleidoscopic portrait of iconic 90s rock group Pavement, produced and edited by Columbia's own Robert Greene, Ragtag Cinema presents a miniseries of film and live music performance to peer into the creative inspiration that shaped the production of Pavements the film. Todd Haynes' rarely-screened Bob Dylan portrait I'm Not There (2007) enmeshes audiences into the multiple universes and personas that an artist can inhabit while Dexter Fletcher’s Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) shows audiences the ridiculous choices a music biopic must make in order to emphasize the mythical aura of its subject. Closing with a special pre-release screening of Pavements, “... [a] multifaceted meta-movie [that] is at once documentary, musical comedy, faux biopic, and real museum exhibition,” as described by critic Jordan Mintzer of The Hollywood Reporter, this series will welcome audiences into the strange and wonderful Pavements universe. 

All screenings in this series will include live musical performances. More information on musicians can be found on the individual film page below. All screenings will also include introductions from Robert Greene, producer and editor of Pavements and Filmmaker-in-Chief at the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism. The screening of Pavements will feature a post-film Q&A with Greene and Director of Photography Robert Kolodny.
