All We Imagine as Light

Winner of the Grand Prize at the 2024 Cannes Festival, writer/director Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light is a sumptuous portrait of contemporary, working-class Mumbai. Orderly Prabha (Kani Kusruti), who is estranged from her husband, and spirited Anu (Divya Prabha), who is having secret trysts with a Muslim man, are roommates who work at the same hospital as nurses. When the pair travel to a seaside village with their widowed neighbor, they find themselves forging a makeshift sisterhood.
