Another Body

October 10, 2023
Fall screening in partnership with True/False Film Fest and Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism

Details About the Film

When Taylor, a recent engineering graduate, received a message linking to a porn site, she was shocked to find explicit videos featuring her face and her full name. Except the person in the videos was not actually her, somebody had edited her face onto the pornographic videos using deepfake technology and included personal details such as her hometown and school. When she discovered another woman from her school had also been targeted, they team up to find out the truth after repeated failures to get help from the police. Weaving deepfake technology into their own filmmaking, co directors Sophie Compton and Reubyn Hamlyn have crafted a compelling and shocking reflection on the perfect storm of AI technology and toxic masculinity internet culture. The story of these two women unfolds like a stranger than fiction true crime investigation as they dive into the dark online world of deepfakes in search of justice.

Doors & Music at 6:30pm; Film start at 7pm.
