Apollo 13

Astronauts Jim Lovell (Tom Hanks), Jack Swigert (Kevin Bacon), and Fred Haise (Bill Paxton) were en route to the moon as part of a NASA mission, when an on-board explosion creates massive damage, forcing them all to solely focus on getting home alive.

Directed by Ron Howard and adapted from the 1994 non-fiction novel Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13, this film dramatizes the ill-fated 1970 lunar mission. Nominated for nine Academy Awards including Best Picture, and taking home awards for Best Film Editing and Sound, Apollo 13 is considered one of the finest docudramas because of its strong cast, technical detail, and the film production’s collaboration with NASA.
