Bring It On

June 8, 2023
Blood, sweat, and cheers abound in this early aughts classic about the social, political, and economic divides between two rival high school cheer squads.

Details About the Film

This film is part of the series CoMo Famous: 2023

High school senior Torrance Shipman reckons with her newfound responsibility as cheer captain upon discovering their national-bound routine has been stolen from a predominantly Black rival cheer squad. Balancing insight, energy, and plenty of spirit, Bring It On is the rare 2000s comedy that’s stood the test of time.

Diamond, repping Principle Salon, grew up in Columbia and has stayed because she could “go on for days about how much I love Columbia. Columbia is such a unique and vibrant place, made that way by the people in our community and the folks who continue to invest in building a better community. It's amazing to live in a community that supports our local restaurant and businesses, and also has a commitment to the arts, live music, and film.” She’s seen so many films at Ragtag, she can’t remember the first one. If you see her out and about on a Friday night, buy her a Cold Black Heart from Barred Owl and pizza from Shakespere’s or Tony’s.
