In 2008, during the last summer before high school, Taiwanese-American 13-year-old Chris (Izaac Wang), affectionately called Dìdi, which means “little brother,” finds that his mother (Joan Chen) and older sister (Shirley Chen) cannot teach him what he will need to make it in high school. Trying on the identities of skater and flirt, Chris learns that maybe what he most needs is to figure out how to love his mom, even when he cannot understand her.
