Dont Look Back

Part of the canon of Direct Cinema, filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker’s 1967 Dont Look Back captures musician Bob Dylan on what would become his last tour as an acoustic artist. Filmed during his 1965 England tour on a handheld 16mm camera, Pennebaker’s fly-on-the-wall approach to filmmaking provides an intimate portrait of Dylan and has remained as one of the key referential texts in behind-the-scenes nonfiction and narrative filmmaking.

This screening will be preceded by a guest lecture from Robert Greene, the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism Filmmaker-in-Chief.
