Last month, we lost one of our favorite filmmakers, Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Stop Making Sense). To celebrate his legacy, we're presenting his newly restored, under-seen gem Cousin Bobby. A personal favorite of Demme's, Cousin Bobby is a warm-hearted, inspiring documentary portrait of his cousin, a Harlem-based Episcopal priest named Robert Castle. Castle is a righteous social justice activist who works tirelessly for his neighborhood. In Cousin Bobby, we get an up-close look at his work and learn about his transformative relationship with Isaiah Rowley, a Black Panther leader from Jersey City.
"A brilliantly original portrait of a complex personality." (Terrence Rafferty, The New Yorker)
