A United Kingdom

Opens Mar 10, 2017

A superb David Oyelowo stars as Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana. During the 1940s, Khama spends time in London, where he meets a white office worker named Ruth Williams (Rosamund Pike). Their undeniable chemistry soon blossoms into love and eventually a marriage proposal, which sends shock waves through their families and governments.

"Amma Assante (Belle) is fast becoming one of the UK's most talked about filmmakers, and rightly so. Relying heavily on electric performances from its leads, Oyelowo and Pike, both of whom sizzle on screen, A United Kingdom is historical drama at its best." (Tara Judah, Senses of Cinema)

"It's a tender love story that never goes soft on its provocations. It's a defiant cry from the heart."--Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
