DBRL's One Read presents The Big Short

In collaborations with the Daniel Boone Regional Library's One Read program, Ragtag presents a free screening of The Big Short, a hilarious and terrifying explanation of the 2007-2008 financial crisis that changed the lives of various subjects in the One Read selection, Jessica Bruder's book, Nomadland.

The story begins with Michael Burry (Christian Bale), a hedge fund manager who recognizes the instability of the U.S. housing market and comes up with a plan to take advantage of the situation. Others soon buy into his scheme. This clever and urgent film was directed by Adam McKay (Step Brothers) and adapted from a book by Michael Lewis (Moneyball). Brad Pitt, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling co-star.

"A true-crime story and a madcap comedy, a heist movie and a scalding polemic, The Big Short will affirm your deepest cynicism about Wall Street while simultaneously restoring your faith in Hollywood." (AO Scott, The New York Times)
