Extra Credit: Arrival

Denis Villeneuve’s entry into the first-contact column of science fiction follows a linguist enlisted by the US military to attempt communication with aliens that have landed on an Earth at the brink of war. Terrifying and affirming, Arrival captures the absolute awe that only a complete disruption could cause, set to a haunting and unforgettable score from Jóhann Jóhannsson.

Extra Credit is presented in collaboration with University of Missouri’s The Connector. Each month’s screening is followed by a panel discussion with different researchers. Free for members! Nov 18 at 6pm
