Opens Jul 22, 2021
ROCK the Community joins Ragtag Cinema to discuss community power, and the power of genre in Shaka King's bombshell film about Chairman Fred Hampton and an FBI-plant.
Free Event Policy:
Tickets to free events are available at our box office starting at 12 noon the day of the show. No more than four free tickets will be given to one person.
A free ticket guarantees you a seat until 10 minutes before showtime and not after. If all tickets have been distributed and there are open seats at 10 till, we will start seating the theater from the waiting list (queue). Ticket holders will continue to be admitted at this time if seats are available. This policy allows us to start on time and give the audience a distraction-free experience.
About the series:
The Show Me Series is a nod to our long-established proclivity as Missourians to approach new things with a hint of skepticism (until we see it for ourselves, of course). As well, a challenge to show our community all the possibilities shared experiences with film can hold — and the potential to serve as a catalyst for conversations that can move our collective pendulum closer to equity, inclusion, and unity.
Rooted in media literacy, and challenging the cinema canon — post-film discussions will take us beyond content, to interrogate form, intention, and reaction — and weave historical contexts with the here and now.
You can help ROCK the Community serve Columbia: We're hosting a school supply drive the week of Saturday, July 17 - Friday, July 23. School supplies can be dropped off in one of our collection boxes under our screens, or handed to one of our box officers.
Ragtag Cinema is honored to co-host the Show Me Series with our Community Partners.
The Show Me Series is monthly, and free to the public.
