Ho, ho, ho

Don't miss Christmas in July, one of Preston Sturges's least-talked-about, tenderest films, on Thursday, April 30 at 7:00 PM. Along with The Great McGinty and Hail the Conquering Hero, it's one of Sturges's timeliest (timeless?) works -- a devastating portrait of poverty and the bewildering speed of cash flow. Plus, it's only 65 minutes long -- what else do you have to do between 7:00 and 8:05?

Christmas in July plays as part of Ragtag Cinema's current repertory film series, Mad Money and American Idols: A Preston Sturges Extravaganza, which runs every Thursday through May 21.
