Hopi filmmaker and photographer Victor Masayesva, Jr. is coming to MU on Wednesday, Nov. 28th as part of Native American Heritage Month to screen and discuss his new film Waaki (Sanctuary) at 3:00 p.m. in Strickland 105. He is internationally known for his documentary and experimental films, for his community-based film practice, and for his work with traditional Indigenous knowledge and stories. Ellis library has several of his films, including Imagining Indians (about representations of Native people in popular film), Itam Hakim Hopiit (a retelling of the Hopi emergence story), and others, some of them streaming via the library website. His most recent photography book is Husk of Time.
