Job Opening: General Cinema Manager

Overview: The Ragtag crew needs a new general manager! We’re looking for someone who can bring a professional attitude to a casual, fun, cinema-focused work environment with the ability to maintain and establish good working relationships with a variety of people. This position reports directly to the Ragtag Film Society Operations Director and directly manages the team of hourly box officers. The position’s primary objective is to maintain smooth operational aspects at the cinema and help keep all the bangers flowing and showing.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent, prompt communication;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills;
  • Logistically-minded with the capacity for strategic planning;
  • Flexible with the ability to pivot and possessing a solution-oriented mindset;
  • IT comfort – ability to learn cinema systems such as Agile Ticketing and WordPress;
  • Cash handling experience;
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in a managerial role and experience working in a cinema, within the film industry, or as an event producer. 

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, hire, and train new box office employees;
  • Coordinate, create, and implement schedules in WhenIWork (scheduling software) for all cinema box officers and projectionists; 
  • Day-to-day supervision of cinema operational and staffing needs;
  • Keep financial and statistical records;
  • Maintain inventory of merchandise and concessions;
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and standing meetings with the Operations Director;
  • Manage cinema rentals;
  • Learn and maintain cinema ticketing and website systems;
  • Cover box office shifts as needed. 

Compensation and Culture: This position is for a full-time, year-round employee, with an annual salary in the range of $36-38k. We offer a results-oriented work environment, schedule flexibility, a generous paid time off policy, and a collaborative culture. The ideal candidate would reside in, or be willing to relocate to, Columbia, MO.
