The public library's One Read program is a go. This year's book selection is The Boys in the Boat, the amazing true story of the US rowing team striving for gold at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Ragtag's free One Read screening this year is Steven Soderbergh's King of the Hill (1993), about a young boy growing up during the Depression, much like the main character in The Boys in the Boat. Monday 9/22 @ 5:30pm.
The library's film series, Center Aisle Cinema, will have a free screening of Glickman on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30pm in the Friends Room. The film is about famed sportscaster Marty Glickman, a gifted Jewish-American athlete who was denied the chance to represent the US at the 1936 Olympics.
There's a whole month of cool One Read events. Check 'em out here.
