Now eleven years old, the Passport Series is Ragtag's annual celebration of new international cinema. On Wednesdays and Thursdays in September and October at 6:30pm for seven weeks, we watch a film from a different part of the world. After each film concludes, we host an audience conversation, which is facilitated by someone from or deeply familiar with the film's setting.
This year's edition kicks off September 14-15 with Ixcanul, a stunning and clear-eyed Guatemalan film made in close collaboration with its Kaqchikel cast. Then we will head to South Korea, India, Mexico, Tibet, France, and Italy.
As a special bonus, pick up a mini Passport Series at your first screening and carry it with you to get stamped at each screening. If you see five of the seven films, you'll be eligible for a drawing for two punch cards to the St. Louis International Film Festival (SLIFF), Nov. 3-13, 2016. SLIFF is a globe-circling fest that explores the far corners of the cinematic universe.
Special thanks the NEA Artworks, MAC, and SLIFF for their ongoing support of Ragtag's popular Passport Series.
